Gua Sha

This technique uses a tool to scrape the skin in order to move the Qi and Blood that has stagnated.

About Gua Sha

The word “Gua” means to scrape and “Sha” refers to the petechia (redness) that shows up during the treatment.  Gua sha helps to boost the immune system and reduce inflammation as well.  It is great in helping to loosen tight muscles of the neck, upper back, and shoulders.  In addition, it can be used to help with issues like plantar fasciitis or a tight IT band.

Gua sha feels a bit like a hard massage.  It can leave the skin a little bit red, however that should dissipate in a few days.  Over time, usually less and less red appears with each treatment.

* Please note:  We only provide gua sha as an add-on to acupuncture treatments, not as an individual service.
